I Used to Hide Softness Behind Strength — Now I Write It in Ink
For years, I wore strength like a badge — the grit of rural life, the resilience of heartbreak, the stoicism learned from generations before me. I thought strength was what kept me safe. What I didn’t realise was that under all that strength, there was a softness I had never truly shown the world.

When I first began writing rural Australian romance, I didn’t know my books would become my permission slip to feel it all — the longing, the aching hope, the tenderness that hides behind calloused hands and dusty boots.
Book 2 of my River Flats series, Enduring Your Love, is my softness written in ink. It’s a love story rooted in wheat fields and family legacies, but more than that— it’s about the courage it takes to be soft when the world has asked you to be hard.
I write for the women who still believe in slow love. For the ones who have held up everyone else’s world for years and are only now learning to let someone hold them. For the ones who crave second chances, deep roots, and wide-open skies.
Enduring Your Love isn’t just a rural romance — it’s an invitation to put down the armor for a while and remember how good it feels to be vulnerable.
Because sometimes, the strongest thing we can do is stay soft.
With love,
Sheryl M.
